Adoption Process
At Paarl SPCA, our goal is to find every animal a safe, loving and permanent home. To help ensure the best possible match, our adoption process includes the following steps:
- Visit the Paarl SPCA and spend time getting to know the animal you’d like to adopt.
- Complete an adoption application form with your details.
- A home inspection will be conducted by one of our inspectors to ensure your property is suitable for your new pet.
- Once your application has been approved, you can return to complete the adoption and welcome your new companion home.
- Before going home, your pet will be sterilised and vaccinated (where applicable). The adoption fee helps cover these essential veterinary services and contributes to the ongoing care of the animals at the SPCA.
How Paarl SPCA Is Managed
A Charity Managed with Professional Standards
Although Paarl SPCA is a registered non-profit organisation, it is managed according to sound business principles to ensure responsible governance, accountability and the highest standards of animal welfare.
The organisation is overseen by a Management Committee made up of nominated and elected members from the Paarl community. The committee provides strategic direction and governance, while the Manager / Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SPCA and the delivery of its services.
The Manager works closely with dedicated teams across Animal Inspectors, Kennels, Equine Care, Education, Public Relations, Fundraising, Administration and Maintenance to ensure the organisation runs effectively and that every animal receives the care and protection it deserves.
Every SPCA is also required by law to employ at least one qualified Animal Inspector, who is responsible for enforcing South Africa’s animal welfare legislation and investigating cases of cruelty and neglect.
